The Job

ABOUT THE ROLE
Responsible for delivering database infrastructure in the cloud, typically Azure or AWS. Working in a team with cloud engineers you will provision cloud database resources, and support application teams with the configuration, use and performance of these resources. You will ensure that strict security and business standards are followed. You will work in a closely knit team in an agile environment to ensure that deployments are built to standard and within expected timescales. PostgreSQL is widely used but other RDBMS systems will be encountered. You should have a good understanding of database architecture, backup, restore and database migration challenges. Being a team player with good written and verbal skills would be highly regarded.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Understands the end-to-end (E2E) technical service(s) including dependent components and infrastructure
Provides technical support and direction across service management processes including, incident, problem, change, configuration, capacity, continuity (DR), availability, asset, monitoring and alerting
Collaborate with Architects and Design Leads to ensure that projects are scoped in accordance with asset roadmaps and strategies
Ensure adequate communication, knowledge sharing and issue resolution across delivery and support teams
Implement and enforce appropriate data quality controls are in place across the portfolio
Out of hours support will occasionally be required to support system migrations and similar activities
Ensuring service change and service transition is executed flawlessly
Your Skills and Experience
4-6 years experience in Database Technology
and delivery, with a strong background in the practical use, design and deployment of large-scale Database infrastructures
4
-6 years designing, building, managing and administering large scale Database (physical and virtual) environments
4-6 years experience with an
RDBMS
(typically
Oracle/SQL Server or other equivalent),
any experience with PostgreSQL would be an advantage.
Experience with de
signing, implementing and managing enterprise Databases
and understanding application/toolset dependencies
Experience with database optimization and tuning.
Experience with SQL optimization and tuning.
Cloud Architecture
- Understanding Cloud architecture (AWS/Azure), deploying and working with database infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS) in the cloud
Strong awareness and understanding of hardware, networks, software technologies and applications
Relevant industry certifications
Strong business communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to remain flexible to deliver business outcomes
Proven experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders and 3rd parties to deliver successful outcomes in a time sensitive environment
Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and technology
Tertiary qualification in a Technology discipline or related field.
