Project Overview:
The Tourism for Ethnic Minority Women (T4EMW) initiative under GREAT 2 seeks to empower ethnic minority women (EMW) by leveraging tourism to address socio-economic challenges. Using a Market Systems Development (MSD) approach, the program co-designs and pilots inclusive and sustainable tourism interventions with government, private sector, and community stakeholders. T4EMW aims to create scalable tourism models that benefit EMW while promoting responsible, resilient tourism practices.
Position Overview:
The Private Sector Outreach Specialist will develop and implement strategies to engage private sector stakeholders, including businesses and investors, in community-focused tourism initiatives. This role includes collaborating with private sector partners to conduct market surveys, stakeholder interviews, and focus groups to identify investment opportunities and ensure ongoing support for EMW-led tourism products.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Private Sector Engagement Strategy
· Develop and execute strategies to engage private sector stakeholders (tour operators, travel agencies, businesses) in supporting community-driven tourism initiatives.
· Facilitate collaboration between businesses and local communities to create sustainable tourism models that promote EMW empowerment.
· Foster relationships with private sector partners to align business goals with program objectives.
2. Market Surveys and Investment Identification
· Lead market surveys, stakeholder interviews, and focus group discussions to identify potential investment opportunities within the tourism sector.
· Analyze market trends and opportunities, providing recommendations to integrate private sector involvement in EMW-led tourism products.
· Ensure that private sector participation is aligned with the programs goals of sustainability and inclusivity.
3. Investment Opportunity Development
· Collaborate with private sector partners to identify and design investment opportunities that deliver financial returns while achieving social and environmental impact.
· Assist in developing business cases and investment proposals to attract funding for EMW-led tourism initiatives.
· Ensure alignment between private sector interests and community-focused tourism goals.
4. Ongoing Stakeholder Support
· Maintain strong communication and collaboration with private sector partners to ensure sustained engagement and commitment.
· Act as a liaison between private sector stakeholders and local communities to facilitate mutually beneficial outcomes.
· Address challenges and barriers to private sector involvement, providing solutions to strengthen partnerships.
5. Knowledge Sharing and Reporting
· Share lessons learned and best practices in private-sector engagement and community-focused tourism development.
· Prepare regular reports on outreach activities, market insights, and stakeholder engagement outcomes.
· Contribute to the projects overall monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes.
Yêu cầu
Essential:
· At least 5 years of experience in the private sector,
business development
, or tourism management.
· Experience conducting market research, surveys, and investment identification in the tourism or related sectors.
· Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with private sector organizations and investors.
· Strong understanding of sustainable tourism practices and their application in community development.
Desirable:
· Familiarity with Market Systems Development (MSD) principles or similar approaches in tourism or development projects.
· Experience working with local communities and understanding the dynamics of community-based tourism initiatives in Southeast Asia.
